Fairfield Vs Marist University

In a thrilling semifinal matchup at the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament, the Fairfield Stags orchestrated a remarkable comeback to defeat the Marist Red Foxes 65–61, securing their spot in the championship game for the first time since 2021.

The game, held at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, saw Fairfield trailing 57–48 midway through the second half. However, the Stags’ defense intensified, holding Marist without a field goal for an astounding 9 minutes and 42 seconds. This defensive stand allowed Fairfield to flip the nine-point deficit into a four-point victory.

Senior guard Caleb Fields led the charge for Fairfield, scoring 22 points and providing the offensive spark needed during the critical stretch.  The Stags’ resilience and determination were evident as they executed key plays on both ends of the court, demonstrating their readiness for the championship stage.

With this victory, Fairfield advanced to face fifth-seeded Saint Peter’s in the MAAC Championship Game, aiming for their first conference title since 1997.
